SIWIBA Acknowledge Companies for Support

SIWIBA Mere’s Market received one stove worth $1,600 and a set of solar worth $4,100 from Solomon Origin Gas and Island Enterprise during yesterday’s event at the National Art Gallery.

Receiving the donation was SIWIBA’s Coordinator Nina Tuhaika and Mere’s Market Chairlady, Melanie Poloso.

Ms. Tuhaika thanked both Solomon Origin Gas and Island Enterprise on behalf of the Board, Secretariat and members of SIWIBA for recognizing the efforts of the Association.

“The gifts come as a really good surprise for SIWIBA and will have a positive impact on its members as it will be used for activities such as trainings and cooking competitions during Mere’s Market.”

Ms. Tuhaika added that cooking competition has always been in mind as part of Mere’s Market activities but “we will finally be able to include that thanks to such a generous donation from Solomon Origin Gas”.

The participation of Origin Gas and Island Enterprise Road Show also involved give-away prizes for dance competition, awareness programs and promotions.

Three women won prizes during yesterday’s dance competition and these include: first prize one two-burner stove, second prize a holiday bag and spectacles and third prize a T-shirt from Island Enterprise.

Another fun activity yesterday was the tag-of-war that had a team of six women in SIWIBA who won themselves $50 voucher cards each proudly sponsored by Pro31 Shop.

Ongoing promotions has been in place during the event with ZFM100 giving free crossover on-air shows for Mere’s Market every 2pm and on-air promotion of Mere’s Market.

Today’s line-up will include the participation of Creative Image Hair and Beauty Salon who will host a hair fashion show that will be incorporated with a sarong competition.

The fashion show will highlight hair style designs compliment of Creative Image Hair and Beauty Salon in collaboration with sarongs created by SIWIBA women.

SIWIBA welcome members of the public and interested stakeholders to come and see and support our local women.

SIWIBA once again acknowledge the participation of the companies involved especially for their great support and recognition.
