Christmas Event for SIWIBA

Another chapter ends as 2015 closed off in December for the festive season.

SIWIBA Board, Secretariat staff and members closed off the year with an early Christmas party on December 21, which was an evening where members celebrated and reminisced on the struggles and achievements of 2015.

Christmas party for SIWIBA is always a time where members have the opportunity to put on their best dress, hair up-styles and simply have a relaxed evening over good food and great entertainment.

As the sun sets its final rays on the Red Mansion Comfort Inn deck, the SIWIBA members settled themselves with drinks on the house, interacting in an exciting atmosphere and all happy to be taking time out for a change.

The invited Too Good Boys band entertained the ladies with popular Christmas songs, creating a more Christmas vibe at the far end of the floor.

A moment of silence was offered to remember members who have passed on before the program was officially open for the evening.

SIWIBA president Mrs Dalcy Tekulu and Mrs Ellah Kauhua guest of honor from DFAT

SIWIBA President, Dalcy Tekulu in her address acknowledged that 2015 has been recognised as “a most successful year” for SIWIBA.

“I wish to give all the credits to acknowledge the members, the Secretariat, the Board, our major donor DFAT Australia and the supporting organizations and people who have worked closely with the Association to achieve its goals and making this year a successful year for SIWIBA,” Mrs. Tekulu said as she stood up and salute all who have been the supportive of the Association.

Also speaking on behalf of DFAT, invited guest Ms. Ella Kauhue highly commended SIWIBA for its achievement and for breaking through many barriers to be where it is now.

Members were also given the opportunity to introduce themselves, their business and to share words of encouragement.

Consolation awards were given to members of SIWIBA to acknowledge their loyalty to the Association, its activities, programs and its Secretariat.

Karina Paenitala earned herself an award for her loyalty to SIWIBA Secretariat and always available to assist the staff.

Gayle Ramosaea for her consistent participation at the bi-monthly Mere’s Market and Jane Illisa for her loyalty to SIWIBA as a member.

Surprising awards were made to honour the Secretariat staff and Board of SIWIBA followed by the traditional ‘Secret Friend’ presentations, where all members present at the party received something special from each friend.

A huge feast was prepared for SIWIBA members which was followed by entertainment, dance and prize giving for best Christmas dress and best dancers of the night.

The night ended on a high note with very happy members being transported safely to their respective homes and families, closing a chapter to open another for 2016.
