SIWIBA Announced Naming Right Package for women in business awards during the Launch of 2016 Meres Market

An official opening program took place Wednesday 10th February 2016 at the High Court Grounds, which launched SIWIBA’s Mere’s Market event for this year.

Guests at the official opening included DFAT officials, the acting PNG High Commissioner, Home Finance Manager, National Fisheries Development, the ANZ Bank and the Guest of Honour, Madam Emmy Sogavare.

In her official remarks, the SIWIBA Acting President, Mrs. Julie Gegeu Haro commended the presence of invited guests and acknowledged their support towards SIWIBA’s programs and activities.

Mrs. Haro highlighted the support received towards the upcoming Solomon Islands Women in Business Awards (SIWIBA) that would be hosted July this year.

Mrs. Haro also announced the “Naming Rights Package” and appealed to interested company houses who wish to sponsor the naming rights alongside SIWIBA.

Supporting the announcement, SIWIBA Coordinator, Nina Tuhaika clarified that hosting the women in business awards will be the third of its kind in the Pacific.

Ms. Tuhaika adds that this will be the first in Solomon Islands and a milestone achievement for SIWIBA.

“Last year was a very big year for SIWIBA and this year will be an even bigger year with more programs and activities lined up,” she added.

Ms. Tuhaika encouraged the members of SIWIBA to put more effort and worker harder in their businesses this year.

The Mere’s Market is a bi-monthly event initiated to encourage women to showcase their skills, products and services, creating market and networking.

Declaring the opening of SIWIBA’s 2016 Mere’s Market was Dr. Jasmine Cernvos, Counsellor Economics of DFAT.
