Taiwan Encourage SIWIBA Women

The Solomon Islands Women in Business Association (SIWIBA) were honored with the presence of the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Solomon Islands at their 5th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Honiara.

An invitation from SIWIBA was sent to the Embassy of ROC (Taiwan) to be guest speakers in last week Thursday’s AGM at the YWCA Conference Room.

Attending the AGM on behalf of the Embassy were the Deputy Councilor, Mr. Oliver Weng and Taiwan Health Center Leader in Solomon Islands, Ms. Alice Hsu.

The two officers shared inspiring stories with the SIWIBA members as a learning benchmark for women who are aspiring to excel in business ventures.

Mr. Weng made a presentation on Taiwan’s influential women in business and the success of women in significant leadership roles including the recent presidency of a female.

He highlighted that the stories are to encourage women of SIWIBA and the country to have courage to step up and the confidence to have big dreams and high aims in life.

SIWIBA members were later reminded on their well-being during a health talk presentation by Ms. Hsu.

She reminded members on exercise routines, health measures to fight against cancer affecting women and the significance of maintaining good health for society development.

“Make good personal health care management and become the guardian of family health. This will help you to do your job, contribute to the society and the country without worries,” Ms. Hsu encouraged members at the AGM.

In a feedback, SIWIBA member Mrs. Karina Paenitala stated that the presentation was inspiring to hear about different experiences and how other women out there achieve their goals.

“For women in Solomon Islands, it is a good message that reminds us on the importance of health as well. We have lost good women in business just because of our health and I think it is time women in business recognize\ the relationship between health and business,” Ms. Paenitala adds.

President of SIWIBA, Mrs. Dalcy Tekulu in her remark stressed that what have been received from the team are influential stories to help to drive women through challenges to achieve their goals.

SIWIBA acknowledge the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Solomon Islands for accepting the invitation to be guests at the AGM.
