SIWIBA Third General Meeting

The Solomon Islands Women in Business Association (SIWIBA) held its third general meeting yesterday at the SIWIBA Business Development Centre (BDC) in Honiara.

The meeting yesterday focused on matters from the previous general meeting, Mere’s Market and Mini Trade Fair update. Guest speaker was representative of the Australian High Commission, Ms. Louise Scot who spoke on the importance of funding support to SIWIBA and way forward for the association.

SIWIBA trained on Operations Management

Members of the formal sector business took on Operations Management training.

The training which was successfully completed on 2nd September is targeted for SIWIBA members to understand the content and context of operations in business.

SIWIBA Coordinator graduate from APTC

SIWIBA coordinator Ms. Nina Tuhaika graduate with an APTC certificate after completing 3 months Leadership and Management course. Joining other staff and executives from organization the ceremony took place at Maranatha on the 2nd September.

The training was funded by DFAT to SIWIBA as part of SIWIBA staff training and development capacity.  Ms. Nina Tuhaika engaged by SIWIBA in 2014.

SIWIBA Informal sector undergo Business Registration Mentoring

A total of 24 women in the informal sector. The mentoring session was coordinated by Mrs. Lynnette Dawheya of the Ministry of commerce. This was a mile stone mentoring for members of SIWIBA in the informal sector.

SIWIBA Staff attend USP short course Training

Three staff of SIWIBA attend USP short trainings as part of their training and development capacity.

Project management and leadership empowerment were short term courses offered on the final week of August.  The team undertook the courses with other staff from the public and private sector in the country.

Financial Management Training

11 members of SIWIBA completed three day training on financial Management

Facilitated by SISBEC, the participants touched base on Techniques and approaches to use in managing their financial nature of their business. 

The training was set to ensure that members are trained to be able to plan, direct organize and control any financial transaction recommended within any operation of their business weather be in small or large business scale.

Another aim is ensure that new members in the formal business sector develop more value when it comes to finance as well as increasing their learning capacity in business wise.

The training also pave an opportunity for formal members who have been operating business to recap on their financial knowledge.

The training commenced on August 27th and closed off on the 29 with recpient recieiving their certificates 

SIWIBA acknowledge DFAT for the support to fund training activities.
